  27. This movie is rather strange (in a good way). I do like the elements of normality and reality playing throughout in the background; showcasing the un-ideal current issues of Japan during that time (2008); while the Don Kurai's reality integrating to the real world feels as dreamlike as a child's imagination.

    As for the jokes and story elements, they are quite enjoyable for me. The musical elements are entertaining as usual despite being unnecessary for the plot; Mata Tami is a great heroine for the movie, in design and screen time, though I would prefer if she was a companion to Shinchan from start to finish, rather than having her show up for limited segments; finally, the dry and out of place humor are more enjoyable than it should be.

    The film has some few weaknesses, for starters the early use of 2000's CGI for some shots; Dark's first grand introduction, and Mack's airship fight; were not well made even for its time. Secondly, the villain's presence and motivation seems vague which also affects Mata Tami's characterization and Don Kurai's world-building; leaving some things about those two vague and lacking in mandatory exposition. Not only that, the obligatory life lesson to "Stay strong in hard times" was not really necessary to have a big speech over; especially when it feels shoehorned in despite being thematically appropriate. Classic Shinchan movies can operate well with simple and straightforward villains, without the need of any grand moral lessons for the most part.

    Still, I do believe this is a well made movie that would benefited with a longer run time for the Don Kurai's element.
