I may be bias here but i think Asano's character development didn't get enough credit. Like he's grown so much, i felt like a proud sister. And it's also well written if you think it carefully. Why he alone get a new view of things and not also his other mates is probably because he is the one responsible leading them. Like stated during sports festivals, the others only wait for his order, not making their own desicion. So they probably don't really feel the impact. And since he's doing all the work, he's the most affected by their loss. Also, since he's the most familiar with the principal's way, he can compare it with his losing experience and learn from it.
